If you can tear yourself away from the log fires, and beautiful grounds from our estate, there is plenty to do. The New Forest National Park is on your doorstep, with some of England’s most beautiful and historic countryside easily accessible by foot or car. And we are also just 10 minutes from the coast where the beach goes for miles.

We have put together the map below to detail all our local favourite farm shops, butchers, restaurants, cafes, locations, and activities so you can see visually where everything is in relation to our estate. The list below the map has the website links so you can quickly click through to learn more about each place plus we have added a few more links that show even more things to do.

Ferndene Farm Shop - Great selection of fruit & vegetables, meat, bread & ice cream. We love their sausages.

Danesteam Farm Shop - Fantastic butcher with a small selection of cheese, dairy, fruit, vegetables, bread & sweets

New Forest Fish & Shellfish - Amazing fresh fish.

Crow Farm Shop - Butcher with lots of other grocery items. their specialty is their pork pies

Shappen Stores - A local food shop with a great selection of local foods.

Burley Fudge Shop - Big selection of fudge

Toot Sweets Ice Cream Parlour - Lots of different ice creams including vegan. Vegan Chocolate is one of our favorites.

Roly's Fudge Pantry - One of the 33 Roly shops in the UK

The Solent Cellar - Small wine shop with high-quality stock

Cat & Fiddle Farm Shop - Small shop on a farm with pick your own

Stewart's Garden Centre - Christchurch location. Sell lots of local food and home products besides lots of garden stuff. Family-run for generations.


The Pig - Amazing food & service. Walk around their walled garden where many of their ingredients come from

Pig on the Beach - Amazing food & service in a beautiful location.

The Dining Room - More formal but very good. This is in the Chewton Glen hotel. You can walk to Highcliffe beach from here

The Noisy Lobster - Their whole lobster with garlic butter, chips, and salad is what we eat regularly.

The Jetty - Big selection of seafood which is very good

Hartnett Holder & Co - Small menu but very good. This is a the Limewood Hotel

The Elderflower Restaurant - A small restaurant with a tasting menu. Great service.

The Indian Tree - Amazing Indian food and will deliver to the estate

Lyndhurst Tea House - Quaint tea house but their scones are delicious. Gluten-free scones are our favorites.


Limewood Hotel Spa - Our favorite treatment is the Sarah Chapman facial

Chewton Glen Hotel Spa - They have amazing facilities indoor and outdoor

Avon Beach - Very close to the estate. Noisy Lobster is here and you can get takeaway and loads of ice cream

Boscombe Beach - Good ice cream and surf shop here

Hengitsbury Head - Beautiful and usually not too busy. The heather is amazing to see when it is in season

Bournemouth Beach - Big and traditional. Even 2 old-style arcades.

Southbourne Beach - Big and quieter than Bournemouth

Highcliffe Beach - Great views. Can get busy.

Studland Beach - National Trust owned and gorgeous. While there then go see Old Harry Rocks too.

Animal spots

Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary - The deer are so beautiful here but not always around. Lots of trails to walk.

Holmsley Woods - Forestry Commission owned. Ponies are always there and sometimes cows. Walking distance from the estate. See the exact spot on the map above.

Highcliffe Castle - Grade I listed mansion right on the coast

Beaulieu Palace House - Home of the Montagu family since 1538

Kingston Lacy - Grand house on an 8500 acre estate. Used to be the family seat for the Bankes family until 1981 when it was bequeathed to the National Trust

New Forest Heritage Centre - Museum in the New Forest right in the middle in Lyndhurst
